up to $3,000Closed for 20267 recipients
About the grant
The Jeffrey Grey Memorial Travel Grant honors the late Dr. Jeffrey Grey of Australia, a former president of the Society for Military History. The annual award of up to $3,000 supports an outstanding graduate student enrolled in a graduate program located outside North America, to assist with travel expenses associated with presenting a paper or participating in a roundtable at the annual meeting of the Society.
The recipient is recognized at the Society’s awards dinner and receives a complimentary ticket to the event.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program outside North America and must not currently reside in North America. Students may apply before notification of inclusion in the conference program, but eligibility for the award requires formal acceptance of their paper or roundtable proposal.
Eligible students may also apply for a Russell F. Weigley Graduate Student Travel Grant. Applicants are considered for both awards but may receive only one in a given year.
How to apply
The 2026 competition closed on January 5, 2026. The next call will be posted here.
Decisions early February 2026.
