The Journal of Military History

About the Journal

The Journal of Military History has been published continuously since 1937, first as Military Affairs and under its present name since 1989. It appears four times a year, in January, April, July and October, and every article is peer reviewed. The Journal is owned and published by the Society for Military History and edited at the Virginia Military Institute.

Each issue carries scholarly articles on the military history of every era and region, the George C. Marshall Lecture, review essays, around fifty book reviews, a list of recent articles on military history from other journals, and, once a year, a list of doctoral dissertations in the field. Members receive the printed Journal and read every issue online through EBSCO; libraries reach it through EBSCO's history databases.
